Survey - When & Where to Meet

Greetings!

We’d like your opinion about our retiree gatherings.  Developments this year suggest adjustments are in order, but we’d like to only make the ones that make sense for you.

With the closing of Ryan’s in April we were pressed to find another location that could offer us a separate space in a short amount of time.  Since we have no funds, our options were limited.  The Marion Diner offered their south room, and allowed us to order from their menu.  We accepted for the short term, but had our worst turnout in years at the May and September gatherings.

For many years we have had luncheons the first Tuesdays in May and September.  During multiple discussions we have been reminded of the many schedule conflicts these dates present.  The first week in May coincides with MCI’s Employee Recognition Week activities.  The first Tuesday in September is part of the short week following Labor Day, which also features the Popcorn Festival and Hardin County Fair.  Both of these luncheons are also the day before the free meal at MCI for retirees.  That leads us to the following:

1.         We’d like to propose a change in the dates our luncheons are held.  For 2017, replacing the May date (2nd) would be Tuesday, April 25 (the 4th Tuesday).  For 2017, replacing the September date (5th) would be Tuesday, October 10 (2nd Tuesday).

These changes would create some space between our luncheons and other MCI activities, and would avoid the overload experienced early in September.

2.         We’d like to consider a change in where our luncheons are held, but we don’t know a suitable alternative.  If you know a place that can accommodate 20-30 people, who would allow us free use of a separate space, and allow us to order from their menu, we’d like to know.  Oh, and it should be relatively close to Marion.  As example, Ben & Joy’s in Mt. Sterling fits the bill perfectly, but it is 90 minutes away.

Please take a few moments and tell us your thoughts.  If the above doesn’t sound like a good idea, tell us what does.

Thanks for your input.
